| Mission
The Will Power Research Fund exists for the sole purpose of supporting research efforts to understand and discover a cure for Malignant Glioma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.
On this site, you will find information on the disease itself, resources for funding cancer treatment, events and sponsorship opportunities, and the stories of courageous individuals battling Malignant Glioma.
Through generous donations and the support of volunteers, the Will Power Research Fund hosts events featuring local neuro-oncologists and radiation oncologists speaking out on Malignant Glioma
and the progress (or lack thereof) being made and the dire need for more extensive research. Those interested in supporting the Will Power Research Fund and our crusade to discover a cure for Malignant Glioma are invited to participate in fundraising efforts such as an annual auction, sponsorships of Will’s runs and ultradistance hikes, and various other events that occur throughout the year. For more information on becoming involved or providing financial support, please contact us at contact-wprf@willpowerresearchfund.com.
History
Founded in, 2007, the Will Power Research Fund is operated by the Tarantino family of Monterey Bay, CA, who’s oldest
son, Will, was diagnosed in 2007 with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer, Malignant Glioma. An avid hiker, runner, and scholar, Will’s courageous battle with Malignant Glioma has touched/inspired many and fueled research for an end to this dreadful disease.

Patty Long and and Mike Guardino have since joined Will Power Research Fund to help us with our cause, in memory of their son David Spilfogel whose fierce battle with malignant glioma ended on June 25, 2006. David worked in computer animated graphics. He was also an avid hiker and mountain biker, who demonstrated an amazing amount of compassion and fortitude throughout the 26 years of his life.
Where We Give The Will Power Research Fund rigorously examines current research projects and, based upon solid scientific criteria and in cooperation with top neuro-oncologists, provides grant funding to projects that demonstrate a genuine potential to find a cure for this rare and serious form of brain cancer.
